The NEW Local Government Website Requirement

Effective December 21, 2025, all cities, villages, towns, and counties with at least 1,500 residents must have a website with a “.gov” domain. In addition, those local governments will be required to post and regularly update certain information and records on their website. Municipalities with fewer than 1,500 residents will be required to create and maintain such a website to the extent practicable.
This webinar will provide an overview of the legislation that imposes this requirement. It will also highlight the procedure for obtaining a “.gov” domain. The webinar will conclude with a discussion of information and records that must be regularly placed and updated on the website.
This webinar is FREE to NYCOM members, although registration is required. A recording of the webinar will be provided to registrants following completion of the webinar.
